City of Mt. Juliet's Train Quiet Zone Update

The trains that run through Mt. Juliet will not be disturbing its citizens as much very soon.  Mt. Juliet will become the first city in Tennesee to institute a Quiet Zone for train whistles.  This is accomplished by building federally mandated barriers that prevent vehicles from being in the path of the train.  The construction of those barriers began the week of October 27th, 2008 and should be complete in about 3 months.  After construction is complete all of the crossings will have to be inspected by the federal regulating agency. At the conclusion of that inspection / certification, then the trains can pass quietly through Mt. Juliet.
